Class Dojo
The students can earn Dojo points throughout the day for being exceptional students. For example, a student could earn points by helping others, persevering, or being a good team member. Students can also lose dojo points by forgetting their homework or an assignment, being disrespectful, or not showing acceptable effort. This will be my main form of behavior and classroom communication.
Homework Policy
Homework the students bring home is expected to be returned completed the following day. Most of the time, the homework will be graded but not recorded in the gradebook. The majority of the student grades will come from in class assessements. However, I will record the occasional homework grade.
Conduct & Effort Reports
I will use the same report sheet for all nine weeks. Each week, on Friday, the students will bring their report home with their conduct and effort grades. I ask that parents/guardians intial each week and the student brings the report back on the following Monday or next day of school.
Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader, or AR, is a way to measure how much a student reads and comprehends the material. Each student will have an individual AR point goal that they will work toward meeting by the end of the quarter. In order for students to be successful and to meet their goal, I strongly recommend reading 20-30 minutes every night in addition to the time they have in class to read independently.
